GRO is a local family owned full time Illinois Whitetail Deer hunting outfitter, the first in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Our very own agricultural ground is located in the county, both in Galena and Woodbine, Illinois.

Our properties are managed year round not just seasonally. We are working for you all year to offer the best opportunity possible to harvest a mature quality animal. We do request, given that ‘opportunity’, that one harvests ONLY mature bucks of at least 130″ with bow and 140″ with muzzleloader.

All hunts include meals, lodging, guide service, transportation to and from the field, and field dressing. A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking, with the balance due 30 days prior to your scheduled hunt. Each hunter will receive airline and travel directions, what to bring, hunt contract and other necessary information needed to make your hunt a worthy experience. All hunters to arrive the afternoon before scheduled hunt, and depart the following morning of the last days hunt.

The DD Ranch offers 4-night 5-day semi-guided trophy Mule Deer hunts and Whitetail hunts. This semi-guided package includes all meals, lodging, and popular beer and soda beverages at the end of the day. The DD Ranch does offer guided and unguided whitetail deer hunts but the basic package is a semi-guided hunt. The DD Ranch consists of 70,000 acres of privately owned land in western Nebraska that sits adjacent to tens of thousands of acres of public land, giving our customers an unlimited amount of hunting ground. We are located near Chadron, Nebraska, which is on the Wyoming and South Dakota border. The DD takes a very limited number of hunters a year on the ranches to ensure quality trophy deer every year for every hunter. Only trophy deer are harvested. Our deer are 100% wild and not fenced. This is a TRUE hunt!! The DD Ranch also provides combination South Dakota and Nebraska deer, turkey and antelope hunts so hunters can have a double state grand slam!!

Being a hunter myself, I believe that every hunter wants to have a shot at a trophy deer and the DD provides that opportunity. The DD Ranch is a relatively new hunting ranch and 2001 was the first year we took out hunters. Over the past 9 years, the DD has offered MANY TROPHY Whitetail and Mule Deer as well as MANY Merriam turkeys and antelope so I decided to start up a hunting camp. The DD Ranch requires each deer that is harvested to have a minimal of 4 points on at least one side. This will ensure trophy deer every year. We offer world class big game hunting in 2 territories. Our interior territory (Ruby Rock Lodge) is located at the end of the north arm on Stuart Lake, approximately 55 miles from Fort St. James, B.C. Access is by air or water only. Guided big game hunts offered for the following:

Hunting is done mainly on quads, with some walking/hiking, or with trucks or boats. We offer the best in accommodation and our home cooked meals (during the hunting season) are second to none.

Our coastal territory, Wahoo Creek Lodge, is located in the northern coastal area of British Columbia and is part of The Great Bear Rain Forest. Our territory covers approximately 4800 square kilometers and is home to some of the best grizzly bear and goat hunting around. Our staging area is close to 100 miles from Terrace, B.C. The Wahoo Creek territory terrain is mountainous, rocky, timbered and open alpine, with the beautiful Kitlope River flowing through it. Hunting is done with jet boats, on quads, hiking (or trucks when the terrain allows).

Guided hunts offered at the coastal territory are for coastal black bear, grizzly bear, goat, deer and moose. For those who love to fish there are four salmon runs through out our territory. we offer 5 1/2 day free ranging whitetail hunts in the northern provincial forestland. We run an exclusive operation and take only 6 guys a week so everyone gets treated like family and has a great time during their hunt. We have the exclusive rights to over 70,000 acres of forestland and with the limited amount of hunters we take annually all of our guys see numerous bucks daily.

Everyday you are transported by ATV right to your heated ground blind or tower and are picked up right after dark and taken back to camp. Because you are hunting miles of forest the deer movement is all day
and the best bucks are normally killed between 10 a.m and 2 p.m. Our hunts include lodging, meals, transportation to and from the airport (Saskatoon), 5 1/2 days of hunting and trophy care.

Bucks in the 125 to 135 range are common, and if you are patient deer in the 140 to 150 are very possible with deer over 180 taken. We have very comfortable modern accommodations with separate sleeping

Kansas Hunting - We are located in SE Kansas along the Neosho River. All of our hunting ground is privately owned property that holds some big trophy bucks. With over 3000 acres in Labette, Cherokee, and Crawford counties we can keep you in an area that has not been pressured.

The habitat of the farms we hunt is very diverse. We have bottomland fields with thick draws and woodlots, hardwood White Oak Ridges, and thick overgrown brushy pastures.  All of this area has the highest deer population in the entire state. Kansas has more 160 P&Y bucks in the books than any other state.  Our whitetail deer have the best genetics and all the food they need. We supplement with feeders and summer and winter food plots.

Whitetail Deer Hunting - Our Rifle and Muzzleloader hunts are 5 days, and Archery hunts are 6 days long. You will arrive the afternoon before and leave out the morning after. We provide all meals, lodging, transportation to and from the hunting areas, and almost everything needed.  Every time you go afield you have a chance to kill that buck of a lifetime. We are not in the business of selling deer, we are providing you an opportunity to hunt some of the best Kansas farms.

This is real hunting, you might hunt 5 days and not see a shooter or you might have 6 shooters chase a doe under your tree at 5 yds in the first 10 min. We believe a shooter is classified as the deer you decide to shoot. As long as it is at least a 3 1/2 yr old deer. We have killed 3 1/2 yr old 175 inch and 4 1/2 yr old 198 inch bucks. As long as you are not shooting 2 1/2 yr old bucks or younger you will be able to keep hunting with us. We also do not charge trophy fees.

Kansas Turkey Hunting - We have a load of Eastern, Rio Grande and Hybrid turkeys for you to hunt. Turkey hunting along the river, a small creek, or chasing them in the strip pits we will keep you busy.

When you come hunting with us you can be assured we will do everything we can to make your hunt a success. You will stay with us in our house and eat at our kitchen table. We are just a small family outfitter that makes for a relaxing trip. While hunting with Iron Gate Lodge you are just one of the family.
